Where is my site's sitemap?

A short one we answer often, usually from someone setting up Search Console. Where's the sitemap, do I have to generate it, and which address do I submit?
It's at /sitemap.xml on your site's address, generated for you and kept up to date as the schedule publishes. The site's robots.txt points to it as well. If your site has a custom domain, the sitemap lists every URL on that domain, so submit the one on your domain in Search Console, not the .jimp.site one.
A site that's offline or whose demo has ended serves an empty sitemap until it's back, so nothing points crawlers at pages that don't answer. For the rest of the indexing side, the publishing and SEO page and the custom domains page are the two to read.
