How do I put my own domain on my site?

Another regular. My site works on its .jimp.site address and I've bought a domain for it. What do I set at the registrar, how long does it take, and what happens to the old address once the domain is on?

In the editor, Identity tab, add the host you want. You get three DNS records to create at your registrar, each with a copy button (a CNAME for the traffic, a CNAME that lets the certificate renew itself, a TXT that proves the domain is yours), and Jimp checks them on its own, usually within minutes. Once it's verified, make it the site's address, and the .jimp.site address and any other domain 301 to it.

A root domain can't carry a CNAME, that's DNS, not us. Connect the www version and redirect the root to it at your registrar. Everything else, including what happens if the domain stops answering, is on the custom domains page.
