The beta in October, how it works

Jimp opens to beta testers in early October. It's invite only, a small group to start with, and we'll widen it as we fix what they find. There's no firm date yet and we'd rather say that than pick one and slip.

Testers get an email with the invite, and their forum profile gets the Beta badge before they even log in. The badge stays for good, so a year from now people can tell who was here while the product was being shaped.

During the beta we'll answer here within the hour in the daytime, European time, weekends a bit slower. That's the deal on our side. On yours, we'd ask one thing, post your problems and ideas in public rather than by email. A question answered on the forum helps the next ten people who hit the same wall, and a private email helps one.

Ideas and missing features go in Feature requests, one idea per thread. Everyone can vote, and we set a status on each (proposed, planned, building, shipped, declined) so you can see what happened to it. When something ships, it gets its line in the weekly changelog with a link back to the request. Bugs and "how do I" questions go in Jimp help, where we mark the answer that solved it.

If you'd like to be in the beta and haven't heard from us, say so in the introductions thread and tell us what you run.
