Migrating a WordPress site

Already running a tube on WordPress? You do not start over. Jimp takes your videos with their titles, copies your media, checks what is still online, then takes over on your domain with a 301 redirect for every old address. Your WordPress is not touched until you switch.

What you need

• A WP-Script site built with Adult Mass Videos Embedder or Mass Videos Grabber, even deactivated, whatever the theme. A site built with another tool is not read yet.
• A subscription with a free slot for the Jimp site (3 sites on Starter, 10 on Plus, 25 on Pro).
• Access to the WordPress admin, to install the plugin.

1. Declare the site

In the dashboard, My sites → WordPress migrations, then Add a WordPress site: its name, its https:// address, its orientation and its niches. A declared WordPress also joins the traffic network.

2. Install the plugin

Jimp gives you a key, shown only once: copy it right away. Download jimp-network.zip, install it under Plugins → Add New, activate it, then paste the key in the Jimp menu of your admin (just under WP-Script) and save.

Jimp then checks that the key is on your site, and the status goes from Waiting for the plugin to Ready to create the Jimp site. If you lost the key, New key generates another one and the old one stops working.

3. The inventory

The plugin sends a first overview: how many video posts, from which sources, and the files hosted on your WordPress (MP4s, hover previews, thumbnails) with their weight.

4. Create the Jimp site

Create this site on Jimp creates a live site with the same name, orientation and niches, on the Studio template. You then customize it like any other site.

Until your domain has switched, the Jimp site is closed to search engines (noindex): two live sites with the same texts would be duplicate content.

5. Import the videos

Import my videos: the plugin sends your posts in the background, in batches. Titles and descriptions are kept, a duplicate post is imported once, and there is no cap. You can run the import again later to pick up new posts.

Your media

Files hosted on your WordPress are copied to Jimp during the import, if your storage can hold them (20 GB on Starter, 100 GB on Plus, 500 GB on Pro). The room is checked before: never a half copy. MP4s become a streaming feed, up to 1080p.

Videos embedded from a tube are not copied: they keep playing from the tube.

If there is not enough room, Import without copying them still imports the posts, but without your MP4s, and hover previews will disappear at the switch.

6. The check

Before it is published, every video is checked with its source, hundreds a minute, then again every 30 days. The dashboard shows where it stands: online, set aside, to check.

A video that is gone is never published, and its old address will redirect to its category. See the missing posts lists them, with a link to edit each post on WordPress and a CSV export. Nothing is trashed for you.

7. Rewriting

Your titles and descriptions are probably the same as on hundreds of other sites. Once the check is done, Rewrite my imported videos gives them unique text, written for your site: 1 credit per live video, for the whole site at once.

Your monthly credits are used first, then your packs. If you are short, the screen works out the difference and offers the pack that covers it; until online payment opens, write to us to add it (see Plans and billing). Allow a little over an hour for 2,000 videos.

8. The switch

When you are happy with the Jimp site, point your domain at it from the Identity tab, Your site's address section (see Custom domains). As soon as the domain is verified:

• the site opens to search engines;
• every old video address redirects with a 301 to its new page, a set-aside video to its category;
• the editor's Migration tab goes away, its job is done.

You can then turn off your WordPress. Visitors from the network keep landing on the same account.

Following the migration

Until the domain has switched, the site editor has a Migration tab with the journey's timeline (created, videos imported, customization, switch) and a link to your WordPress admin.

Not carried over yet

• Your WordPress affiliate codes: enter them again in the Money tab (see Monetization).
• The imported videos' sitemap and your WordPress's blocked countries.
