The traffic network
Visitors traded with sites of the same kind: where the row shows, who you show, what you get.
How it works
Your site shows a "More videos" row with videos from partner sites of the same orientation as yours. In exchange, your videos show on theirs. Every card says which site it leads to and opens in a new tab, straight on the video's page.
Every click is counted both ways: an outgoing one for you, an incoming one for the partner. A visitor counts only once a day between two sites.
Who takes part
Every Jimp site, from the moment it is created, demo included. A site whose demo has ended, or that is offline, leaves the network until it comes back.
WordPress sites take part too, through the Jimp Network plugin (see WordPress sites below).
Who you see
Partners are always of the same orientation as you. Those who share your niches come first, and those who sent you the most visitors over the last seven days come ahead of the rest. A row holds eight cards at most, three from the same partner at most, and it changes every minute.
A new site gets a boost for its first 21 days: two spots are held for it in the other sites' rows, while it gets its first visitors.
Settings
Everything is set in the site editor, Activity tab, Participation section. Settings apply immediately, without going through Publish.
- Take part: on by default. Off, the row leaves your site and your site is no longer offered on the others.
- Placement: Home page only (default) or Home page and video pages.
- Grid: Strip and grid (default) also slots two or three cards into your video grid, on the home page and the first page of
/videos, in the style of your thumbnails. Strip only sticks to the row. - Niches you do not show: a partner carrying one of these niches is never shown on your site.
- Blocked sites: you enter a site's address, or click Block in the partner list. Blocking works both ways: that site no longer shows on yours, and yours no longer shows on it.
The numbers
The Visitors from the network section, in the same tab, shows:
- visitors received and sent, this week and over 30 days;
- the breakdown partner by partner, over 30 days;
- videos that made people click: yours, clicked on partner sites, and theirs, clicked on yours.
Everything is counted at the redirect, and nothing is estimated.
What about SEO?
The network trades visitors, not links. Every card goes through a Jimp redirect, nofollow, closed to search engines: nothing counts for rankings, neither yours nor the partners', and no search engine can see a link scheme in it. A bot that follows the redirect is not counted.
WordPress sites
A WordPress site joins the network with the Jimp Network plugin and a Jimp account, free and with no subscription, up to 20 WordPress sites per account. You declare it under Dashboard → Network (or from migrations, it is the same form), install the plugin and paste the key.
On other sites, your showcase is your 24 latest videos. On yours, the row shows at the bottom of the home page, or wherever you want with the [jimp_network] shortcode or the "Jimp Network" widget. In the plugin settings, you choose the columns (Auto copies your theme's grid) and the number of rows. Cards inside the grid are for Jimp sites only.
Participation, exclusion and blocking settings are the same, and so are the numbers, under Dashboard → Network.
